Daisy Bridging Ceremony

Daisy Troop 4114, just before our Bridging Ceremony

The lovely and incredibly yummy cake!

Megan and Mom/Troop Leader after the Ceremony

Today Megan's Daisy troop had their Bridging Ceremony....which means they have officially moved up to the next level of Girl Scouting (Brownies).  It was so much fun to see these girls recite the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law---from memory!---and to watch their excitement at setting up and decorating for the party.  We've really had a fantastic year in Daisies this year....the inaugural year for our troop.  We went bowling, visited Meijer Gardens at Christmas, attended a 100th Anniversary event honoring the centennial of Girl Scouting, visited a local greenhouse, attended a luau party, and took potted flowers to the seniors living at a local nursing home.  We sold 1,248 boxes of cookies as a troop, and had our first experiences running two busy and successful cookie booth sales.  During meetings the girls earned all of the Daisy "petal" patches, one for each line of the Girl Scout Law, and also worked on and successfully completed a Journey project centering around gardening.  They learned songs and traditions that Girl Scouts around the world have been learning for years!

It was so much fun for me to be one of Megan's troop leaders this year!  I have lots of fond memories of my own years in Girl Scouts (12 years!), and I remember how special for me it was that my mom was one of my troop leaders at one point in time.  I hope that Megan will have many wonderful memories of her time in Girl Scouts too.  It has been a blast reconnecting with Girl Scouts via Megan, and experiencing all of this through her first grade eyes.
