Week 3

It's Girl Scout Cookie time!  This week I trained Megan's Brownie troop to get them ready for cookie sales, which started Friday.  Megan is so excited to sell cookies.....she was begging to go out door to door the minute she got off the bus on Friday.  She is quite the little salesgirl, not at all shy to ask people to buy or to answer their questions.  She even gets annoyed with me when I answer for her.  :)  Last year, the first day of cookie sales was a winter blizzard, and we went out in it (by van) anyway.  This year, the temps were much milder and there is no snow on the ground.  Megan's already sold close to 60 boxes of cookies in just the last 36 hours or so.

This week also brought the start of spring dance classes for the girls.  For the first time, they are in the same class this semester.  They are taking a ballet/tap combo class from our beloved Miss Annie, the wonderful teacher with East Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation.  I'm so excited to see them dance together in their recital this spring!  It's at 6:00 on Thursdays, which is nice because Bill can get home in time to stay with Daniel so I don't have to take him along.

Speaking of Daniel....this week he is full of increasingly big sentences, lots of love, and also the beginnings of what we fear may be some "terrible twos."  He did NOT want to go to bed tonight!  At this point, his throwing himself down on the floor and kicking and crying is still a bit comical, although I'm sure that won't be funny for long.  The good thing is, we can usually quickly get him out of a bad mood by singing a song, or just whispering to him.  He stops crying to listen.  The other day we finally opened one set of the wood building blocks Santa brought him, and he loved building towers, knocking them over, and driving toy cars through tunnels I made.  He even had a super long sentence requesting the blocks: "I wan open boks and make a tower."  Pretty good, huh?  His favorite phrase this week seemed to be "Thank you, Mama."  So cute.

Last night, Bill and I got out for a much needed date night.  We had a fantastic dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House, followed by a few drinks at MoJo's Piano bar.  Both were places we had never been, and it was really fun to get away for a few hours and just enjoy each other's company.  I got to try what I think is the first martini I have ever had.  Delish!  It definitely rejuvenates us to be better parents if we get a little time away sometimes, so it was a great start to the weekend!
